Focus on Sustainable Aviation

The UK invites Swedish aerospace organisations and businesses to participate in targeted 1:1 meetings to share knowledge, initiate new business and find collaboration partners.

Innovate UK under the Global Business Innovation Programme has selected to fund 15 high growth, ambitious UK companies developing sustainable aviation technologies to visit Sweden from 16-20 May.

Working with the British Embassy, Innovair, The Swedish Aerospace Cluster and Skellefteå Municipality the delegation will visit Gothenburg, Trollhättan, Linköping, Stockholm and Skellefteå and participate in a bespoke programme during which they will meet key stakeholders, partners and Swedish companies.

The aim of the visit is to bring together UK and Swedish companies and organisations to explore opportunities for innovation collaboration and technology exchange.

Innovate UK EDGE in partnership with Swedish organisations has arranged 1-2-1 business meetings on the following dates.

  • 16th May - Gothenburg
  • 18th May - Linköping
  • 20th May - Skellefteå

Only UK companies who have been selected to participate in the Global Business Innovation Programme are eligible to register. The sessions are open to Swedish companies and organisations with an interest in Sustainable Aviation.

The country has a vibrant research ecosystem with strong links between research, innovation, regulation and industry. Aviation features prominently in the UK Government’s Ten Point Plan for a Green Industrial Revolution and is backed up by its £3.9 billion Aerospace Technology Institute investment in aerospace.

Sweden has a long aeronautical history, is home to global leaders GKN and Saab AB as well as a thriving SME community. The country operates a successful Triple Helix cooperation approach, has identified itself as an international role model of sustainability and has a clear national aeronautics research and innovation agenda set out in NRIA Fylg 2020 which prioritises international collaboration.
